I must say its been a extremely busy month..but I say that with gratitude I am always happy to have work on my desk because it affords me the ability and flexibility to create my artwork for artbyrenee. But despite things being busy I spent the evenings working on the "Three of Cups" for the Super Punch tarot project. I thought it was great to be a part of this project because it includes artists from various genres of the art world out there. There are so many art

communities and artists doing all kinds of incredible works... I have been glad as of late to be meeting a lot of artists from different areas of the art world and I hope it continues.

Since lots of folks seem to like this painting I thought Id post a extra Work In Progress of "Raen" to show you his progress.. I added the wolf today which is his traveling companion. I really like this piece being that this particular avatar is very near and dear to me. The image to me expresses a free spirit. Still this painting is in a ruff form and is evolving as I go but I have enjoyed being a bit lost in it. It was also cool as I was working on him today a storm rolled in..the final part of this painting its last touches it will be raining in the scene.

New Art "Lit"

This is the new painting I have finished its called "Lit". The best way I can describe the meaning of this piece is when you have something said to you thats negative "represented by the dark angel" you kinda want to set it on fire in your mind till its burned to ash. My sister said she thinks its a painting about "defiance" towards something negative from allowing it to affect your life... so I am quoting her because I liked the term she used for it.

I will let you all know when this image becomes prints.

This morning I am here with my coffee at my desk thinking about the past year it has been a interesting one for certain. If I were to think to all the best parts of it that stand out I would say the election of Barack Obama was really meaningful one to me. I think the other thing that stands out is Blake and I took a trip to Orlando and hung out at Disney for days..but that wasn't the most important part. It was our extra trip to go see the legendary Coral Castle. Edward Leedskalnin was a incredible man and if you read about him in the link provided you learn about if you put your mind and imagination to something anything is possible. Above are some photos I took of the site.

I struggled this year with a creative block that now finally feels done. Every so many years I have a bad long standing block but afterwards you realize your mind is just figuring out stuff...I have had the past month a lot of creative break throughs in painting behind the scenes... and I feel most optimistic and obsessed with painting its been the most dominate thing on my mind and its all I feel like doing.

I am thankful I have the artist friends I have who I can share these things with as they are on similar journeys.

All in all I wish you the best for 2009 I wish for you that your dreams be realized, problems conquered, and that you are surrounded by people who really accept, love and support you.

I thought it maybe insightful if you meander into my blog and your a creative person..well we all are creative people are we not.

I have out my window a dark grey autumn day and always for some reason days like that make me feel super creative there is a odd comfort in it. Nothing better than grabbing some soup and tea and a sweater and get down to business..I think today I am going to problem solve my creative blocks issue I have been having off and on for a year now. I am starting to see the blocks as a need for something new or change or thinking different and it forces you to face that...you can't do the same things the same way all the time. I think the bag needs shaked up...

I have written in my blog about the muse that has been hiding then comes out then hides again. And I joke about luring her out with chocolate which has been an obvious reference to my creativity...I am at a point of grabbing her by the shoulders and giving her a good shake and asking her "what does she want" and slap the chocolate outta her hands. I woke up this morning with a determination to problem solve this and start getting a hold of what is sapping energy outta my life and what I need to do to resolve that.

Ok off to do just that keep cozy and warm!

This is a work in progress at this point called "Last Look" its interesting because its inspired by the story of Snow White. Its an image of Snow White giving one last look at the huntsman as he is setting her free into the forest instead of completing his mission the queen set him on.

Its giving a last look at her home and everything she knew...implied by her looking over her shoulder.

I wanted to start on a winter painting felt this would be a good one to finish..I started it a while ago but put it away have a handful like that...

This is a new painting I am working on called "Sea Angel" I have yet to design the costume for her. I like to create a seperate layers in Photoshop and experiment with the costume and other enhancements like jewelry and props. The layers option gives you flexiblity to do that which is one of the many powerful features in photoshop as well as a lot of art programs. Still working on Sea Angel she is half way through done so I will post the final soon.

What I have new on the screen...Satyr Dreams..keeping my promise of painting more dewds:D

This subject was a character I created and played when I used to role play Changling the Dreaming. And if I still did tabletop role play its the game I would be playing today..Loved it! I had two satyr characters this is the male one. Its a work in progress so still pushing about the pixels for it not much detailing and highlights yet but working on it.

Today finishing up a book cover and gonna relax the rest of the evening. Looks out window..looks like a boomer maybe coming in..stormy day ahead.

Well for the first time since the 80's I went bowling tonight with my husband...I realized that bowling alleys are were time stands still..still the same as I remember them. I had a blast though its been so long and was fun..and in the last game I beat Blake:D Will do it again next week.

Return To The Sea WIP

Been back to digital painting this week I have to the right here another work in progress called Return to the Sea. Basically about a shape shifting mermaid fed up with human complexities and is returning to the sea the place were she is originally from back to a simpler way of life.

This is one of three paintings almost done very pleased with them.

Other than that its been stormy here so its a perfect day for painting I won't have any new traditional art this week balancing things out by painting digitally needing to get caught up on new art for prints.

I am really in need of a museum trip may visit the Carnegie Museum soon or the Smithsonian. Blake and I have been talking about take a road trip there in the near future.

Ah well must go get gussied up would like to go out to eat tonight and visit the bookstore.

It was a layed back weekend Saturday was sunny so we went to the flea market Sunday it stormed and hailed a little felt bad for Blake he really wanted to go to the field and fly his RC airplanes. I know in my journal I bring up the weather a lot and seasons..weather really affects my moods all mostly good. Seasons and weather really spur my creativity hence why you see a lot of autumn themed pieces. . .Its my favorite time of the year go figure huh.

Well gotta plan my day and make a few trips!

WIP Dragon's Keeper

Dragon's Keeper I thought I would do a quick post about its the current piece I have been working on behind the scenes. Been working on it off and on the past month keeping with the dragon theme I have been enjoying as of late. Also a clipping of the line work below..I may start out with a idea but in the painting process will start changing some things from the original sketch. Like the hair on the subject I let loose and have the wind blowing about to go along with the fiery scene. Its a turbulent painting and I wanted aspects of the subject to be affected by that environment.

Well lots on my plate today will be printing today and tomorrow and been doing a lot of graphic layout type projects so its a balancing act while on a merry go round. Been having fun trying out some new projects in other arena's in the art field I have always enjoyed variety. So much out there to explore and learn.
